Joel Richmond was born in Warrens, Wisconsin—the Cranberry Capital of the World—and grew up in a family of seven siblings where he learned the importance of faith, family, service, and community involvement. Those values have remained central throughout his life.

Joel and his wife, Linda, a professional interior designer, have been married for 45 years and have called Wauwatosa home for all of their married life.

A graduate of the Wisconsin School of Electronics with a degree in engineering and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in Business Administration, Joel built a career combining engineering, business, sales, and marketing. He worked in the Systems Division at Johnson Controls in engineering and later as a Marketing Manager. He also served as a Commercial Sales Agent with Lutheran Trust Insurance, specializing in church and Bible camp insurance. Joel has also served as president and a member of the Professional Sales and Marketing Group. Continue reading...

THE PROBLEM WITH OUR SCHOOLS

1. The Promise

ChatGPT Image Sep 2, 2026, 01_33_12 PM - Edited.png

A shiny new sports car for education. New math. New spelling. New writing. Easier reading. Kids would learn more, faster. And we believed it.

2. The Reality

We got a clunky sedan. Math shortcuts that confused kids. Phonics disappeared. Cursive faded away. Spelling, reading, and writing standards slipped. The promise didn't match the result.

3. Different Car. Same Problems.

For years, we kept getting the same sedan in a different color. We prioritized participation over achievement and accountability and expectations kept getting lower. New school year - same problems.

4. The Result

The old sedan is missing a tire. More money is sent to schools, yet enrollment declines and administrative costs grow. The system is broken and our students deserve better.
